Safer Schools
Safer Schools – Keeping Children and teachers safe from the risk of serious violence
Description
Course Overview
Over recent years, serious youth violence has increased, with some young people choosing to carry a weapon. This may be due to being part of a gang, exploited, or needing to carry it for their self-protection.
Schools and other youth organisations are responsible under health and safety legislation to minimise risks to pupils, staff and visitors. They have statutory powers to make rules about pupil behaviour to facilitate this. Both searching and screening contribute to the safety of the school by enabling staff to identify and remove prohibited items such as weapons, drugs & alcohol.
This practical training will highlight the risks and limitations of screening & searching. As well as guide the learner through a step-by-step guide to searching using various equipment and methods.
As well as the correct procedures if an offensive weapon is found on a young person. All training is in line with the guidance from the Department for Education (DFE)
